D. M. Maynard is a veteran educator with over 30 years of classroom experience, specializing in Early Childhood Education. She is the Founder/Director of Maynard’s W.I.S.D.O.M., Inc., an educational service for students, parents, caregivers, teachers and administrators. Ms. Maynard is also the Creator/Director of Summer P.L.A.Y. She holds a New York State SAS/SDA certification and a Masters of Liberal Arts and Science with a concentration in educational theater. Ms. Maynard is an accomplished entrepreneur and business owner who has worked for more than 30 years as a professional singer and director in New York City. She has spent the past fifteen years consulting, creating and designing programs, workshops and courses to help improve the professional and personal lives of both children and adults. In addition to her dedication to incorporate both academic fun and the arts into the classroom, Ms. Maynard is an advocate for gender equality for youth in educational settings through her unique practices. Her article, Introducing Gender Equality in the Early Childhood Classroom, was presented at the 1st Global Conference on Masculinity/Femininity in Warsaw, Poland in 2011 and at WPATH in Bangkok, Thailand in 2014. Ms. Maynard’s article, The Magic of a Creative and Engaging Classroom, was presented in 2012 at Mansfield College, Oxford University and was published in 2014. Over the past three years, she has continued to speak both nationally and internationally to educate others on gender equality in the classroom. In addition, Ms. Maynard continues to present her W.I.S.D.O.M. workshops to parents, students and educators; in order to, promote interactive academic learning through G.A.P.: Games, the Arts and Play.
